This Underdog Green Could Give You an Athletic Edge

You’re down with spinach and kale , and you may even flirt with chard on occasion. But if you routinely pass by the pile of watercress at the farmers market, you’re making a mistake. The green is a nutrition power house—especially for the fitness minded. For starters, it’s high in antioxidants , compounds that promote recovery after exercise. A study in the British Journal of Nutrition  found that guys who exercised hard, then ate a handful of watercress every day for two months, showed fewer signs of cell damage than those who skipped the green. Their bodies were repairing themselves faster from the tough workouts—probably due to those antioxidants, researchers think. It also meant that the plant eaters were ready sooner for their next high intensity bout. Leafy Greens Minimize Damage Caused By Workouts Plus, watercress has a ton of two antioxidants in particular— vitamins A and K. Those help build healthy bones and tissue, boost the immune system, and maintain eye healt

What you need to know about beating cancer

There are lots of startling cancer statistics—we know hearing more won’t fend off the disease or hasten your next visit to the doctor. The only information that’ll truly help you is the truth about the cancers you most likely face as a man, the symptoms to watch out for, the tests you’ll need to take , and the future you might face if you do get the diagnosis. “Listen to your body,” says Mike LeFevre, M.D., vice co-chair of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. Meaning: Don’t ignore something that feels out of place. Odds are it’s nothing serious, but many times the only way to catch cancer is to tell your doctor that something doesn’t feel right. “There are few cancers with good science to support regular screening,” LeFevre says. How to Find the Right Doctor for You However, there’s some interesting science that offers hope for the future. At the Washington University School of Medicine, where some of the most groundbreaking cancer research has been done, a team led by Willi

8 Weird Signs Your Body’s Trying to Tell You Something

Most of the time, a twitchy eyelid or an irksome knee, is just that—no biggie. But there are instances when a seemingly insignificant health quirk may be your body’s way of saying, Hey there, let’s go to the doc. “Most people know the major symptoms of something like a stroke or heart attack, but sometimes you get weird presentations of serious problems,” says Jake Deutsch, M.D., founder and clinical Director of CURE Urgent Care in New York and an Attending Physician in the ER at Hackensack University Medical Center. Here are eight to watch for. Check-Ups Every Guy Needs >>> 1. Want to Remember Your Trip? Put Away Your Phone

If you find yourself staring into the Grand Canyon, skip the Instagram post. People who share their experiences on social media form hazier memories than those who put down the phone, suggests a study in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.   Researchers sent 129 people to tour a church on the Stanford University campus. Some took pictures to post on social media , while others simply visited. A week later, they were asked to write down everything they remembered about the building. Counterintuitively, those who snapped images recalled fewer details of the place. Social Media is More Addictive Than Smoking One possible reason? Taking photos for social media cues people to think superficially about what they’re seeing—such as wondering how many likes a photo will garner—rather than let them be fully present to make memories. Another reason: Walking, absorbing information, and snapping pics require multitasking. So do as your parents did and snap one photo—then just take

Watch Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Workout

Next time you’re thinking about going easy on the planks or skipping the gym altogether for a couple days, just remember that somewhere in Washington, D.C., 85-year-old Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is ripping through sets of medicine ball pushups , wall squats , and pulldowns with ease alongside her personal trainer, Bryant Johnson. The two-time cancer survivor is an octogenarian workhorse, implementing aerobics, weight training, and TRX bands in order to stay in shape and prolong her career “ at least five more years .” Stories of her workouts have piqued the curiosity of both the media and the public over the years, prompting political writers and celebrities like Stephen Colbert to try the routine out for themselves (spoiler alert: they couldn’t hang). In 2017, Johnson—whom Ginsburg has said is the “ most important person ” in her life—penned a book about his experience working out with the justice, titled The RBG Workout: How She Stays Strong . . . and You Can T

This article originally appeared on More.com Natural hair straightening treatments are cost-effective and don't contain harsh chemicals that will damage your hair. Here are five salon and DIY hair relaxing treatments that will tame your tresses and make your hair healthy and smooth. Aloe Vera Conditioning Treatment Aloe vera can restore your hair's PH balance, leaving your   hair hydrated   and soft. For a DIY aloe treatment, cut off the ends of three aloe leaves. Slice each leaf down the middle and scoop out the pulp with a spoon. Mix the pulp with 2 tablespoons of water. For added fragrance, use rosewater. Apply the aloe paste to the ends of your hair and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and shampooing. Almond Milk Hair Mask Almond milk is rich in vitamin E, so it strengthens the hair as it softens curls. How to Stop Hair fall

Image
Just want to share, hope it could be helpful to others. I did tried the combination mixtures of grated carrot (extract the juice), white egg, castor oil, virgin coconut oil and olive oil. Use an ample amount. Massage it gently on the scalp, to the entire hair and tips of the hair. Massaging is a must since it will promote proper blood circulation. Leave it for at least 30mins. After i wash it using my favorite friendly gentle shampoo which is Jonhson Baby Shampoo. Any variant will do, depend on your preference. It will prevent hairfalls, make your hair soft, silky and shiny. Been doing this DIY hair care routine every other day, it's been a month now since im engage in this commitment for my hair. And im so delighted by the result. Thank you so much. All is well. Godbless. Courtesy by Lylun Polly
