Hair Treatment

Natural hair straightening treatments are cost-effective and don't contain harsh chemicals that will damage your hair. Here are five salon and DIY hair relaxing treatments that will tame your tresses and make your hair healthy and smooth.
Aloe Vera Conditioning Treatment
Aloe vera can restore your hair's PH balance, leaving your hair hydrated and soft. For a DIY aloe treatment, cut off the ends of three aloe leaves. Slice each leaf down the middle and scoop out the pulp with a spoon. Mix the pulp with 2 tablespoons of water. For added fragrance, use rosewater. Apply the aloe paste to the ends of your hair and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and shampooing.
Almond Milk Hair Mask
Almond milk is rich in vitamin E, so it strengthens the hair as it softens curls. To make an almond hair straightening mask, combine ½ cup almond milk and 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil. Whisk in 3 tablespoons of cornstarch. Warm the mixture in a small saucepan on low setting of your stove top until thickened. Remove the pan from the burner and allow the almond mixture to cool until lukewarm, but not hot. Massage the almond hair treatment into your hair and cover with a shower cap. After 20 minutes, rinse with warm water and shampoo.
Organic Protein Treatment
Protein softens hair while adding volume. During organic protein natural hair straightening treatments, hair is conditioned and relaxed with ingredients such as jojoba seed oil and chamomile.
A Protain Treatment/ can be applied as a spray application or as an all over hair treatment. After the solution is applied, you will have to allow the treatment to soak into your hair for about 10-15 minutes. Some organic protein treatments may require heat activation, so you may have to sit under the dryer while it penetrates your hair. The cost for this treatment is approximately $35.
Salon Steaming Treatment
Steaming adds moisture to your hair, leaving it smooth and shiny. At a salon, your hair dresser will apply a deep conditionerdeep conditionar to your hair before steaming. Next, she will pin up your hair to expose the ends to the steam. While under the steamer, she may use herbs such as mint for added aromatherapy. Each session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes and costs around $25. Make sure you do not steam more than once a week, or your hair may be too limp.
Agave Nectar Smoothing Gel
Agave nectar is lightweight, but it has the ability to deep condition. The sugars in agave nectar draw water to the hair, so it acts as a hair taming humectant. Agave natural hair straightening treatments can be easily performed at home. For this DIY hair smoothing treatment, combine ¼ cup agave nectar, 2 tablespoons olive oil, and 1 tablespoon coconut oil. Massage the mixture through your hair and comb through to ends. Cover hair with a plastic cap a or a hot towel. Allow the gel to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water and shampooing.
